MEN’S DOPP KIT
Designed for Glad & Young Studio
OVERVIEW
The Dopp Kit leather bag was designed for Glad & Young Studio, a primarily female focused, Atlanta based leather goods company looking to expand their men’s line.
The design eliminates the need for male travel bags that balance a compact profile with maximum volume potential. The bag contains room for all the male bathroom essentials, from shaving cream cans to a toothbrush.
PROCESS
Canvas prototyping provided a foundation for user testing and helped identify problems around pattern making and corner depths. User feedback based on the canvas prototype informed the final Dopp Kit.
A canvas prototype was made as an experiment in proportion, dimension, and to confirm technical elements.
After speaking with several male users, the feedback identified problems with the canvas prototype- the bag was too narrow with shallow corners and insufficient volume. The pattern was adjusted to solve these issues.
