Lighting Design
THE BRIEF:
Design a show stopping sculptural lamp for Georgia Tech’s CODA Building. The form should act as a call and response to the interior architecture with the intention of conveying elegance, purity, and luxury.
CODA is a mix-used building integrating business innovation and institutional research. Featuring environmental design, the structure contains sustainable attributes such as automatic shading and systems to control sunlight.
INSPIRATION
The inspiration falls within the dynamic nature of textiles- focusing on motion, suspension, and the illuminating properties of textiles.
-
EXPLORATION
Studying the diffusion of light through a bustled linen- a sustainable textile chosen to support the sustainable design of the Coda.

Skeleton
Considering the density of the textiles resting on the electric elements, the skeleton had to be built with an undercarriage for the lights to breathe.
The initial S-curve mocks the sea-like undulation and mimics the spiral staircase.
